Hi! My name is Mandy Mayes and I would like to welcome you to The Curious Cookie! I am a 4th grade Science and Social Studies teacher in Kentucky. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education- Learning and Behavior Disorders. I’m a wife and mom of two littles. I also own and operate my own cottage baking business called The Cookie Laboratory where I specialize in custom decorated sugar cookies.
I have been working with the Next Generation Science Standards since their adoption in Kentucky in 2013. At that time there were hardly any resources for teaching the new standards so I dedicated many many hours to researching and developing my curriculum. Since then, I have engaged in over 200 hours of professional development dedicated to teaching and assessing NGSS, developing my own resources along the way. All of the products in my TPT store have been developed for use in the Upper Elementary Classroom. I utilize the 3D teaching model to design instruction and assessment.
